When he resolved to become an Animagus so he could run with Remus under the full moon, well, he was successful then, too. Yes, Sirius thought, most of his resolutions were quite successful. There was only one resolution he was having trouble with: Every night, when his hand was on his cock, the face in his mind betrayed his resolution. Every night, the name on his lips belonged to his nemesis, Severus Snape.

Despite having been together for several years, the two had never discussed the possibility of getting married. Hermione was completely unprepared when Severus knelt beside her chair and held out a small black box. The golden band was engraved with the shapes of two entwined serpents and set with diamonds. Thinking about this proof of her fiance’s love, Hermione knew she would never look at a lump of coal the same way again.

Author's Notes: Since I'm bored, I'm doing back-prompts from sirius100. Officially, their deadlines have passed. Unofficially, I don't care. 

Sirius wasn’t sure he believed in miracles, anymore. The Black family remained steadfastly pure of blood, proudly Slytherin, and completely bonkers; the few who weren’t in thrall to the Dark Lord were utterly self-serving. His classmates, in true Gryffindor fashion, had gone bravely to their deaths in the war. James and Lily Potter had been murdered, their son orphaned before his second birthday. Peter’s body was never found. Sirius was arrested as a murderer, sentenced to Azkaban. Remus, the only remaining Marauder, was a werewolf. No, Sirius certainly didn’t believe in miracles. Fortunately, Remus believed enough for both of them.

Author's Notes: For the 'Turkey' prompt on sirius100. Since I'm new to the community, and to LJ period, i figured 'better late than never' on this...

  Americans certainly are strange, Sirius thought as he finished his History of Magic essay. Why in Merlin's name would anyone, wizard or not, decide to fly a kite in a thunderstorm? Apparently, the fellow had survived to have more moments of questionable judgment, including an attempt to make the turkey America's national bird. Mr. Franklin had claimed that the wild turkey was a cunning and noble bird, and believed it a far better symbol of America than the scavenging bald eagle. After seeing the big, ugly, ungainly turkey, Sirius could fully understand why the Americans chose to eat it instead...

Ok, so i just created this journal, and already it's nagging me to post, so here's my first entry... 

I'm Aylix, or Alex, whichever strikes your fancy, and i'm a (currently) single mom of a toddler. My angel-heathen, Arianna (AJ), will be two in February.

I like books, movies, music, coffee or tea, and all things Harry Potter.  (We love you, Jo!!!) 

Please note that this is my first journal ever, and forgive any mistakes or malfunctions. I welcome constructive criticism, but flames will be stored in a jar and used for Potions. (Love Alan, too!!!)

Along with the world of canon-HP, at least in my mind, comes fanfiction.  I read, I write, I squee with delight.  On that, I will likely be posting my own work, and possibly links to others' work (with their permission, of course!) I may ask for Betas or Brit-pickers or other assistance; I just don't know yet.  Hopefully someone will think I'm interesting enough to talk to, and come say hi.
